Children’s Book Shows How
We are Stronger Together

Rescue at the Zoo demonstrates how zoological facilities safeguard their animals

ZDR3 has co-authored a children's book, Rescue at the Zoo

A publisher spotted an article about the ZDR3 Network and thought zoological disaster response would be an engaging topic for children, parents, and teachers. We agree! Especially because climate change is making weather-related disasters more common, and more intense.

We were delighted to work with Jennifer Keats Curtis, an award-winning children’s book author who has penned numerous stories about animals.

We hope this book inspires a new generation of young people interested in zoos and aquariums by demonstrating how zoological organizations protect the animals in their care, and how their concern for all animals in human care leads them to assist one another.

Bonus for ZDR3: as the book’s co-author, our nonprofit receives a modest royalty for every book sold.

Promotional Opportunities

When Rescue at the Zoo is released you can use it to promote your facility’s membership in the ZDR3 Network as a commitment to the well-being of your animals, staff, and community. Our Communications Director can provide a press release template and will be happy to partner on PR projects with your team. Email her at communications@zdr3.org

Our Communications Manager created some point-of-purchase options for you: a sticker with your facility’s logo for the book cover and a personalized poster you can post near your book display. She will be happy to add your logo to both templates, and offer you suggested print vendors for the stickers if you don’t already work with one. Email her at cari@zdr3.org.
